I am researching Colonial America where my ancestors settled incl.CT, Maryland, New York, PA, W.Virginia, Ohio
Some major surnames are Rogers, Bowles, Strickland, Strickling,Bradt, Van Auken, Backensto, Tucker, Burr, Gilham.Triplett,Whitacre,Winland.
I have in recent years been studying the Western Reserve where my line of Rogers settled, The Ohio River Valley Settlements where my ancestors such as Captain John Baker died at the hand of indians, and the National Road along which many relatives traveled. I have learned a lot by studying Migratory patterns of my early American ancestors .
Religion played an important part in my ancestors life choices. My 10thggrandparents, The Hayhursts, arrived on the ship Welcome with William Penn to be able to live and worship as Quakers without fear of reprisal. Another of my Ancestors, Rev. Isaac Burr , was a preacher and his name is on many marriage records. My Tucker family founded a church in Washington Co Pa., as did my Triplett ancestors in Bureau County Illinois.
In Europe I am researching Germany, primarily North Germany. In England I am interested in Essex, Yorkshire and Lancashire Counties. email
